About Me

Marti Kanna

As soon as I could hold a crayon, I started writing stories, and I continue to hone my craft. I’m currently writing a young adult science fiction book.

My lifelong love of reading and writing led to a Masters degree in Creative Writing from the University of Washington in 1982.

In 2001, I founded New Leaf Editing, and now have over twenty years of experience editing fiction and memoir and helping other writers polish their work.

I’m a member of the Northwest Editors Guild. Their website lists over 100 editors and their specialties. Check out the guild at www.edsguild.org.

Right now, I’m working on my third book, a middle grade fantasy. Working title: The Land of Two Witches.

My reading interests range from mainstream fiction, classics, mysteries, fantasy, and science fiction to philosophy, science, biography, and anything about the craft of writing. Check out the Resources page for a list of recommended books on the subject of writing.

I live in Seattle with my significant other, Steve, and our two tabby cats, Teddy and Allie.
